Road Alerts!

With all the talks about Shutting Down the Government I thought we all need to stop and look around, look at the road we're on, the path we've been on, the views waiting for us, the people who are depended on us at the end of the road.

We are not alone on any path. We may associate ourselves with this caravan or that circus, but in the end, after this road trip, we are all returning home to care for our loved ones.  We are meant to compromise, to reach consensus, to stop and follow signs  we didn't construct, we didn't want, we didn't support.  Those signs are there to tell us one thing only:

There are things beyond and ahead of you, all around you, that you are part of, that are important for your future safety, that are part of a bigger world that doesn't think your present needs are important right now.  Even if you have an emergency, have promised someone you'd get home at a certain time, have sworn on your life never to be late again.

Accept that certain things will need to happen for things to go well.

Keeping the government funded and working is one of those things.

These people who are keeping us safe on the road will not work after the government shuts down. Nobody will tell you that the road is dangerous; nobody will identify problems in advance.
Just thinking out loud, on US101.
Happy Traveling on your Easter Break.

So very true and very timely for me...I'm leaving on a little road trip tomorrow to see my Mom...I guess I'd better keep my eyes open, my mind on the task and hope that somewhere the supposedly smart people will get their heads in the right place too.

So true, Rosaria. It's a scary, uncertain road at times, but you're so right that the common good needs to take top priority!

Absolutely agreed. In many situations I do admit I feel that less government is better, but we don't need a closed government either! There are several functions of a government that are key to making a society work in more ways than one.

When I saws the election results back in November, I said to a friend (another Canadian), "The Tea Party folk will make the U.S. ungovernable."
I think I need to be a little more careful in what I say. Too many things I've said are starting to happen.
Now, it would be nice to have some "peace and joy."

We've lost our way...if only there were a MapQuest ap for government funding.

I am tired of the positioning that puts the soundbites as a priority over the needs of people.

They are talking about shuting our local council for a period to save money and send all the staff home on no pay!

We lost our way when we let the loudest voice screaming win the battle.

Now it has turned into a brawl and every free for all turns to an all out war. I guess that's what the idiots holding the signs that said "keep your government hands off my medicare" wanted---war---against their own foolish selves not understanding that their herders were manipulating them right to this position.

Stupid people vote against their own and their nations own best interest because they refuse to think for themselves and now that the job is accomplished Glen Beck can fade silently away with his millions and skulk back to his thirty acre walled off compound and say "Master I did as you asked."

The odd thing is, is that this is only the first OPENLY thrown punch. There are so many more waiting to be thrown.

Keep your self safe and continue to speak, words are our best weapons for the moment.

Ah, a rare voice of reason and compromise and wisdom. Would you like to run for office? I'd vote for you.

Wisdom and common sense. Well said, Rosaria! Thank you.

Rosaria, you always hit the nail on the head. So current, so right on. These days, I'm walking...away from the politicians...the noisemakers and tricksters...it's far more peaceful and secure on the walking path under the moonlight.

The road is very divided right now. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. THose of us dependent on gov't services may suffer. But we'll get through it better and stronger than before.

As of last night, the shut down has been averted. Now, let's talk how to finance a government that is responsive to people's needs.
The poor are getting poorer.
The rich are getting richer.
And the middle class is no longer making progress upward. Remember how we were all going to do better if we worked hard, and long and did our duties?

The middle class should now be worried that the burden of cuts and taxation is strictly on their shoulders, while the rich are finding more and more ways to make and conserve wealth.

We should be angry at corporations that pay no taxes and cash in big profits and subsidies.

Come on, wake up and read the fine print, good people. We are being screwed and we are barking down at those who are alwo being screwed, rather than at the fat cats that are doing the screwing and feeding us a whole bunch of lies.

Thought-provoking.

Looks like they will stay open for a bit ... till the next deadline of shenanigans hits.
