Rainy Days and Mondays

The Northwest coastal weather this time of the year is rainy the majority of the time. Light, soft rain,  and hurricane force torrential squalls, all in the same hour.

We wear rain gear all the time, on short and long trips.

We don't use umbrellas. We wear Gore-Tex, a specialty material designed to keep us dry.

To travel anywhere, we cross rivers, creeks, forests and hamlets. Our roads are one-laners, curvy and blind, often crossed by deer, elk, turkeys and a variety of other animals.

After a good storm, be prepared to stop and wait for transportation workers to clear roads of fallen trees and other debris.

No wonder that we have so many micro-breweries to help us cope with cabin fever.

You may live in a rainy spot, but it is beautiful.

Nice photos. Do the rain & cloudy days give you a down feeling? Sunny days always perk me up even though I don't like too much heat. Keep dry!

I loved that last photo.

It is gorgeous though, Rosaria. :)

I wish I lived there.

That last photo is stunning, taken through glass perhaps. It's like a watercolour painting.

What a wonderful adventure your life seems to be at this time of the year.

Yes I am certain they are there just to help cope with the rainy weather.

That last photo, complete with raindrops is incredible - looks more like a glorious, atmospheric painting.

Working on a film set in all conditions... Gore Tex? Tell me about it! I live in Gore Tex. I have pyjamas made in that stuff.

Love the photos, especially the one on the green bridge.

I dunno if you've been back to my blog since you asked me to add the Followers gadget. I did, for a few days, but I hadn't had one listed on my sidebar since it first became a gadget we could add. It feels too much like high school to me, so I took it back down again. I've noticed in the Blogger tool bar, just above our blog headers, on the left hand side where we "Share" or "Report Abuse" or whatever...it also says "Follow". If you haven't become a follower yet and still wish to, you can sign on there.

Beautiful photos. I love that last one with the raindrops. It looks almost surreal.

Carrying an umbrella prevents one from seeing so much so the Gore Tex is a much better idea!

HA!

This is one reason I like to have the snow. When the rain finally comes in spring it is new life and I love it!

Sounds incredible! Something so inspiring about it. Would love to live in the clime just for a while, maybe set a novel's location in such a place.

And I just have to say, I'm hearing Karen Carpenter, singing that song. She was like no other, and I wish we'd had so much more music from her.

I used to live in Portland, Oregon. I really don't miss the rain from October through to June!! The summers were pretty fabulous though. And you need the water to make the countryside so beautifully green.

Oh, my favorite part of your post? The micro brewery line! And I must confess, when I spend time in memory care here ... I always project a bit about what lies ahead ....... Enjoy your day, Ms. Rosaria.

Wonderful pics! I seldom use an umbrella, either.

Lovely Pictures... lovely place :)
I have The Carpenters stuck in my mind now, thanks to your title :)

I love the shot with the water droplets. I finally bought a gore-tex bag to use for a purse because the one I had been using absorbed water so badly.

I nearly always take an umbrella with me, as a sort of insurance against it raining. It doesn't always work.

Love to the person who invented Gore-Tex!

We have snow to contend with. Slippery and icy. No walks the last two days because I worry about a fall. Just what we would need right now..

I like the rain, but the coast certainly could get a bit glum in the winter if you lived there. But I would still live there.

I love that you do so many things. I feel like I never move my body.

I do love your area of the country even though it seems to have it share of challenges. Thanks for visiting and in answer to your question, no, only mother nature is feeding the bluebirds.

great photos and the title - I love that song!

Beautiful pictres, Rosaria. You are getting more rain than we are, I suspect but we've had plenty the last few days. I've got some good ocean photos that I'll post today. But civilizatio, good restaurants and jazz is only about fifteen miles away snd,so far, the rainy weather hasn't interfered with that.

I took photos similar to yours yesterday :). Yes, a belly warmer is needed around these parts!

Sarah Laurence said...

WOW! You have outdone yourself with these stunning photos. Hang the photos 2-4 on your wall or a gallery. The last one looks more like a painting. Photography is the best coping mechanism. I’m all for Gortex over umbrellas too.

Each of these four photographs is like a painting in a different style

You know Rosaria I knew you would love it. I like to think that I would be similar to you.

I adore intelligent women.

Lovely photos! And mmmmm microbreweries! Which do you recommend?

NitWit1 said...

I loved your photos. I somewhat perversely love photos taken under somewhat adverse circumstances. The reflective one is nice, but I love the one where raindrops appear to be on the lens.

One of my dream photo is to catch a landscape in a macro drop of water or at least a very small amount of water like a puddle or birdbath, etc.

Yolanda said...

Despite all the wet I still love it here.

We have been weathering through a series of storms here in Southern California and they've been intense. I love that last shot! And the micro breweries sound like a fine way to make it through a rainy day, or night.

I absolutely love the photos you have shared here... they're fantastic... really beautiful.

Here in my corner of the world we have been dealing with a heatwave... days on end of 43c degrees :(
much cooler today thank heavens and those who lost power have it once again.
