For Mothers.

A friend of mine shared this reverie for Mother's Day.

"Before I was a Mom."

author unknown

Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn ' t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at nigh twatching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn ' t want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn ' t stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom, I didn ' t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.I didn ' t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn ' t know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn ' t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn ' t know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom ."

To all the moms out there: Happy Mother's Day.

Hi Rosaria
It seems like it is Mothers' Day all over the world. Isn't that great - one thing we all agree on - Mothers are valued...

Before I was a mum, I never knew worry about someone else so special in my life, even though they're 23 and 18!
I didn't know I would be willing to die for two people if it helped them stay alive .
But I do I'm glad I was able to know that experience with my mum before she died a year after my first child was born.As pre children I just thought she was being soppy!

Nice piece. In a few hours we will all sit to Mother's day dinner. Daughters, son, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter. Granny worries just as much about our grandchildren than she did about our own and she is a worrier big time .
Happy Mother's day.

Thank you for visiting. It is with gratitude that I acknowledge your presence. Mother's Day is indeed a celebration of life and creation without which we would not be gifted with this moment shared. Blessings and love.

This is so moving!...I have had the luck in life to become a mom less than four years ago and ...oh,
what a wonderful thing it is, it's a special blessing. This poem goes quite near to it but, never, never in a million years, could words express how wonderous, how fearful, how joyful being a mom is.
Happy mother's day!

I should think that mothers (and children) all over the world would have responded to that. Good post.
