One foot stomping.

I am posed the same way as my cat, head looking one way, body  facing the opposite. I have one foot in and one out of the door, not sure how far to venture out.  The holidays and company have worn us out. We are going to need our routine back, our lives back to normal.

Not a chance!
The Normal Train left the station without us.

What's in store for 2012?

We have purchased fiddles and a tuner, and are ready to make music, Hubby and I. We are both taking a class and we'll be getting off our couches every Tuesday evening to join other adults learning to play a new instrument. I'm looking forward to  stomp my feet and  make merry.

This is a first for me! Our children were playing various instruments since they were little. Hubby was in a marching band in  high school. Our daughter has made music her career.  I am the only one without any musical knowledge. Why now?

Why not? I have the time; I have the desire, and the opportunity may not be here next year.

How about you? What new endeavors are you pursuing in 2012?

Whatever they are, may they be music to your ears.

Happy New Year!

Well, good for you! That really is a new skill. I hope you have a lot of fun with it and it's great that you're doing it together.

I've recently picked up my clarinet again, after neglecting it for several years, so am looking forward to that. I'm also planning several projects in the house and garden, which will probably take at least two years to complete. In the "it'll be great when it's over' camp. I suspect.

I'm retired, but work part time at a sporting company. At the company Christmas party, I won a kayak, life jacket and paddle. I'm going to give this a whirl... Is "whirl" a kayaking term??? Anyway, I had the same "why not" attitude.

Wonderful to go for it. I hope you enjoy the process enough to continue on the journey so that you can make music.

I think for 2012 I am going to find a dragon, a great jeweled belly encrusted flying lizard, wake it, train it and fly to places where there are battles to be fought. Not that I need to fight, but rather because there are people who need someone to fight for them.

And you Miss Rosaria make music, fine fiddle music of the best mountain traditions! We all need new and better goals for the upcoming year, because we all fell short this past ne. There has been enough pain, now let us seek our pleasure and wrap others in it.

@turquoisemoon...not that I know but I think in kayaks it's the whirl you want to try to stay out of. But if you do whirl then enjoy it before you get back on the steady and ahead.

There is never a time when we stop learning. It's the best thing for us all at any age to know that we can and do learn new skills each and every day.
Good luck and have fun
Hugs

Normal is nice!! I am excited for you to venture into a new musical venue. Fiddles are fantastic...you cannot stand still when you hear one. Thank you so much for your recent comment on my blog. You are a wise virtual friend and your words mean much! Buon Anno!

Wow, that's an impressive new thing for the year!

Mine? Spending three weeks in Ecuador - it will be our first international trip ever where English is not the spoken language and we're not on a tour. My goal is to venture out and experience it without being afraid or too, too cautious.

Yes Rosaria, buon anno. 2012 will see me shaking off my natural lazyness and honing my writing skills to finish my memoirs while I still have a memory to work with and from.

I'm determined to figure out how to publish on Kindle!

I have lap dulcimers, four of them (tuned differently) that I keep intending to play. Three-stringed and tuned to a key, they're relatively easy. You've inspired me to get them out and practice.

Good luck and have fun Rosaria! I would like to take a photography class this year and I also would like to try my hand at watercolor painting too..But with my work schedule and having to take surgical call again I'm just really hoping to survive! Have a Happy New Year!
