Meme of the Moment

Tessa from An Aerial Armadillo has tagged me for this Meme of the Moment.

1. What is your current obsession?

Staying healthy, getting back the use of my arm which became waylaid during a bout of bursitis.

2.Which item of clothing do you wear often?

Rain gear, followed by sturdy shoes and wind/chill repellents. I do "dress up" when I chair the local Board of Education. That's when I bring out my business suits, and my dressy shoes. You wouldn't recognize me.

3.What's for dinner?

We are on our third week of re portioning and recalibrating our food, since hubby has been declared diabetic and our diet must change or else. I cook by impulse, making something with whatever is available, but I do stock a big freezer and a walk-in pantry. For tonight's dinner we'll be having roasted citrus halibut with wilted greens from the garden and a fruit/ricotta compote for dessert. The halibut will have been just a few hours off the Pacific. Our fishing fleet sometimes has extra fish they sell locally. The rest is sold live, yes LIVE, to restaurants.

4.What are you listening to?

I'm a blues/jazz lover. I just put Ella Fitzgerald on. My daughter and her husband are in the music business. For Christmas, I used to ask for collections, and they would make it happen for me, selecting and mixing in their studio. Of course, I listen to their own group, The Comforters, in live concert situations as often as I can. ( check them out at http://www.feelthecomforters.com/)

5.Say something to the one that tagged you.

Tessa, I'm honored for this activity, and I'm pleased to know you and the blog mates you and I have encountered. I met you through Angela, I think. I admire your spirit, your taste, and the enchanting power of your storytelling. Thank you for your interest in my life.

6.Favorite vacation spot?

Venice. It has mystique, history, intrigue, art, architecture, music and fashion to dazzle the eyes and the soul. It is truly a one of a kind spot on earth.

7. What I'm reading right now?

Anne Michaels, Fugitive Pieces; and Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. A Life in The 20th Century. I tend to have a fiction, and a non fiction by my bedside.

8. Four words to describe myself.

Curious, adventurous, caring, stubborn.

9.Guilty pleasure.

I'm dreaming of owning a sport car. In the meantime, I scour adv. pages, looking for such a deal. My ideal: a 450 SL Mercedes convertible, red, hardtop and soft top.

10. First Spring thing?

Working in the garden that is not soaked. This week we got the tiller out and work done to prepare our vegetable garden.

11. (This is question I've reworked) What do you look forward to?

I have been writing memoir pieces. My wish is to get something ready for publication, and see something in print before I die. I know people in their eighties busy with their writing, too. I hope not to get discouraged by the lovely competition.

Now it's my turn to tag 8 others to do the same; respond to the questions, rework those you need to rework, replace, add, and tag 8 others.

I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 10 years ago. I'm on oral medication and all is well. Its no big deal. Watch your sugar level, eat less, loose a little weight, not too much unless your are an elephant and enjoy life.
I envy your fresh fish. I did not experience this since our last camping trip on North Carolina's Outer Banks 12 years ago. That was the last time our dollar was worth something against yours.

Oh it's too good to pass up, even if it's late and I have a dawn wake-up call tomorrow. Also because the word verification is "restrant" (blogger must be reading every word we post)

I would love to go to Venice, I beleive it's gorgeous, I am with you on the mercedes sports convertible - but mine (in my dreams) is blue. I am jealous of your fresh fish and life by the sea! Fiction and non fiction by the bed - yep, moi aussi. Your life sounds pretty good to me.

Thank you for tagging me, Rosaria, but I think your answers are much more inventive than mine could be. Can I make up some different questions? I`ll see what I come up with when I have a little more time. Happy gardening to you, and I hope you get that Mercedes convertible! A friend of mine has one, in silver...beautiful!

Hello there! I SO enjoyed learning more about you today. I am dreaming of a trip to the Greek Isles .....

It was hard reading about teen girls and the influences surrounding them as they navigate today's world. I worry for my granddaughter ......

Great questions & answers. I'll take the challenge, but it may take me a day or two to settle down for thinking. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have my own computer connected to the Internet & be back in business. Thanks.

if you wanted us to look at Tessa's answers, you could highlight her name and then click on the button that looks like a green tongue. Then you type in her url, (or you could have highlighted it and copied it earlier and you just have to paste it in), then, when we click on her name, we link straight to her blog.
Thanks for thinking of me. I love memes.

Oh, I have hope for your memoir, too. These things that take so much work, that are so much of ourselves, they need to be bound and on shelf, ready for fingers to touch, eyes to devour.

(And Lola's cookbook, too. Geesh. I should have said that over at her place!)

Very interesting ....nice getting to know more of you.

Bursitis...I was just diagnosed with this myself, though it is mild - too much blogging, I'm sure.

I hope you get that sports car. Zip by and pick me up...we can go for a ride. Maybe drive through the Dog n' Suds and flirt with boys!

I also have fiction and non fiction on my bedside table. I wish all success for your writing being published. Your memoirs are interesting and inspired reading. But I also believe in on-line publishing. I mean, should we always depend on paper? Even some famous writers have gone on-line and created blogs just for their novels.

Oh, thank you so much for playing along, lakeviewer! I'm thrilled and delighted that you have because I was ever so slightly nervous that you may think it a load of old fluff.

Of course, I knew that if you did decide to go along with the tag, we'd be treated to some wonderful snippets from your life - and we have. Your dinner sounds absolutely delectable..perhaps you will share the recipe someday...and you love jazz and Venice and sports cars and of course books and the fine craft of writing. It's no wonder I got hooked on your blog from the word go!

And thank you, too, for your special words about my corner of the blogosphere - coming as it does from you, it is accolade indeed. Thank you so much, lakeviewer.

Me thinks you are living life to the full. Bless you...

Thank you, good people for taking the time to comment. These self revelations written quickly and without much preparation are fun to write and fun to read.

I look forward reading these memes on your blogs in the next few months.

Now, let's get back to saving the Earth, correcting the
Economy, growing our own food and shedding those extra pounds. Summer is coming to the Northwest, a feast of sunshine and cool breezes.

If you are traveling this way, you can let me know. I'll have the canoe and the fishing poles available for those of you who like to catch your own protein.

Or, you can just sit on the deck.

Your menu sounds great, your life of garden and books reminds me of myself (also the rain gear), and I LOVE that you are writing your memoir!! I must read it. Venice...it is on my list of places to go someday when I can travel again.

I see Meredith of Letters we Carried..Is that me on your tag? Or are there two Merediths carrying :)?

Loved the deeper glimpse and insight into your life - thank you for sharing.

Oo I loved Venice too. I got whisked away there for my 30th birthday and we drank champagne outside the Florian and it was totally amazing. I loved all the music in the cafes and we got a jazz band to play me happy birthday. A magical place and some fantastic memories. Thanks for visiting my place recently and for your honst and supportive words.
