We've become people who need people.

Men, women, machines, tools, supplies, gadgets, specialized tasks, and lots of coordination, and logistics. Usually this type of work is done in stages, lasting a couple of seasons, or years. We chose to have everything done at once.

First day of work.

Here, you see four different crews: tractor work, edging/laying out concrete pads work, clearing old vegetation work, and lighting and irrigation work.  A dozen people  at various stages, delivery,  leveling, spacing,  digging and adjusting to get the right slope identified and prepared before the concrete men can be called to pour out the concrete, and a crew on the outskirt doing the clean-up and prepping work for different areas.

Most of this work was done in the rain.

Notice the lighting and irrigation tubing before it is buried under the concrete or stones. I took these pictures to have an understanding of the layout should I need to call a repairman in the future. Even the special soil that will form the various beds has been delivered and put together according to specifications.

The weather has not cooperated too well. We are still waiting for a dry spell to complete the tasks.
On top of everything, machines broke halting many steps, and an old septic tank was discovered in the region where the concrete pad was scheduled to go.

So, stop everything,  remove above tank, fill the hole, re-level the pad!

The good news? Everyone is working at peak performance!
Now, if only the weather would cooperate.

I wish that I could send you some of this HOT weather & you could send us some of that rain. It is so wonderful to see that this is all coming together. Happy times when it is all finished. I will be following. Keep up the strength. Hugs.

Rosaria...this post has an air of excitement about it...a new project and the hopes of its completion. there was a time when we just did everything ourselves. At this point in our lives, some help brought in is the best gift we can give to ourselves. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Looks like quite a project, but at least you have the pros doing it! Rainy here too and not too good for outdoor projects. Hope you get some sunshine, soon! :)

Looking so good! I can't wait to see the finished project. I'm sorry your weather has been the pits. I would love some of that rain and I'm sure you'd like our sun but hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate so you can have the landscape of your dreams! Good luck!

It looks like you have been busy! Nice project and it never fails to have obsticals get in the way. Not sure if we would know how to act if something didn't go wrong.

So far we haven't had much rain here. usually we have lots up until July but not this year.

G'day Rosaria. That is going to look fabulous when it's completed. I look forward to seeing the photos of it all finished. We are in our winter here in Australia, so the rain is a common thing, but there hasn't been much of it the last few days and the sun has been shining, though the nights are very cold and there was a severe frost on the ground this morning. Hope the sun shines and makes the work more pleasant for you. Take care. Liz...

I loved seeing your photos -- everything is so green and lush -- and hope you'll post more as work progresses. In the last photo, the one with yellow tractor to the right, what are the orange globes on the tree behind the tractor?

Sun breaks this afternoon in Bellevue, WA today as I keep company in the hospital with my husband and his new knee. I would rather be outdoors and so would he,

So good to see such levels of cooperation, in spite of the weather, Rosaria. We can be as purposeful as ants.

Ah, reminds me so much of living in England back in the day.... one good reason for moving to South Africa!

Diane, those are fresh cuts to the tree, to eliminate unsightly branches. Yes, they do appear as flowers in the picture.
It's sunny as I type this on a Monday morning. We're anticipating the cement truck today.

I do hope the weather has co-operated by now - a day later .. but so worth getting on with everything so you can enjoy the fruits of your decisions and choices ..

Cheers and looking forward to see the new beginnings .. Hilary
