A lesson in humility.

Come in...sit down...I'll fix us some brunch...with these fresh veggies I just rescued.
I'm trying to make it up to you, my blog friend, for erasing your comment a minute ago, for my stupidity, actually. I'm much better in the kitchen, you'll see.

So, have a cup of tea, coffee, juice, while we chat.
My day so far?
Except for the faux pas a minute ago, it was going splendidly. Newkie came up on my bed to wake me at dawn, walked me down the hall to her feed bowl, and from there, the usual stuff, make coffee, pour some yogurt and berries for Hubby, stuff dirty dishes and bowls in the dishwasher, (I know, who washes the dishes until they need them, right?), shower and return to bed to share breakfast in bed with the Man of the House who doesn't have any chores except to drive us places and to suggest meal choices. Today, the sun is shining, temperatures are in the mid forties so far, threatening to get to a warm fifty plus, and walks and gardening forays are all possible.

I know, we are spoiling ourselves rotten.

How about you? What has your day been like so far?

p.s. if this event-erasing comments- had not occurred, you would never know that we have breakfast in bed every morning! Yes, you can now leave an envy note!

You are brave to take on that gadget. I would be tearing my hair out! You are lucky that you can do these things.

I would be annoyed by having to get up at 6.30! Naughty cat!

I am recuperating from an 800-mile drive in the last two days, tidying, odds and ends. Clearing the slate, so to speak, for this new year.

Your day sounds so much better than mine...mine was full of tonsils, adenoids, biopsies and cleaning it all up too! I did however have a lovely salad for lunch. Now I'm home and it's 14de. outside with snow..it's cold baby! But I'm happy your happy and life is good!

I have been preparing coffee before waking up my unwakable spouse and drinking it with her in bed for the last 45 years. Ready to do it for another 45, could be less since it would take me to 125; a trifle ambitious maybe?

I want to know how/what you eat in that bed; you are obviously much tidier than myself who can wear traces of most meals sitting upright. If I reclined? Well, I envision changing sheets daily if I dined in bed. Your secret? It was a good day here, sunny and a good workout, a cold wind, quick buzz in and out of post office, then home where I put on a big pot of beans that simmered all day with bits of ham and diced carrots, celery, onions. We had delicious bean soup for dinner...enough left for another meal.

I too have a cat who lords it over me as she collects and walks me to her bowl. She used to meow as well, but I told her that if she kept that up i would resist her and she would go hungry. It's kind of a win win thing. She thinks she controls me, and I think I control her :)

ps I love fresh veggies and those look yummy--drizzle with olive oil and lots of garlic, a crusty bread = heaven on earth!

Breakfast in bed....I love doing that. Most of the time it is in front of my laptop. Those vegetables look so good. I actually was able to eat from my garden today. Spinach, tomatoes, basil, & cilantro. It almost hit 80F again today. Thanks for sharing. Hugs.

We are retired! So, I have all the time in the world to come up with tasty meals, starting with breakfast. Eating in bed is not a problem, as we sit up, watch the waves and listen to the morning news.
This morning. we had yogurt and blueberries.
Tomorrow, whatever I can whip up, frittata, oatmeal, ratatouille, pancakes, bread pudding...

While b'fast in bed sounds lovely because of the leisure involved, I would not like toast crumbs in the sheets!

:-)

Otherwise, I am not a neatnik by any stretch. Ahh, retirement. Another few years . . .

Glad you got your comment back.

Lovely, relaxing post. I am hungry and sleepy after reading it! Does Newkie join you back in bed for breakfast, I wonder?

Okay, now I see that there is truly a valid reason for that sidebar gadget for comments. :)

luxuriating time in bed in the morning, isn't it? of course, it is too early in my life for this to happen often but when it does, oh my, it is sweeter than berries.

enjoy:)))

I am pleased you enjoy your retirement – I enjoy mine too. I usually get up around 8:30 am and start the coffee pot. Then make some breakfast – often toasted French bread or English muffins, orange juice and maybe a banana that we share. Then we have breakfast while watching the rerun from Jon Stewart at 9 am. That is about the only TV show I watch (my husband watches a lot more.) For almost 28 years I had to get up at the crack of dawn, or earlier, so I don’t see the dawn anymore. I hope that 2012 will bring you good health and happiness.

Breakfast in bed would be great...if I could get someone to bring it to me. Having to go out to the kitchen to get it kinda defeats the purpose.

I'm not sure I understand your comment erasing issue breakfast in bed? That I understand. ;)

Envy note from me!! I do have breakfast in or on the bed most mornings but on my own. I would however, love to share it with, say, Martin Shaw... lol.

All the best for 2012.

Ha ha sounds like a good start to the day to me. We had a very lazy start, and we were so late we decided only to have a cup of herbal tea and a banana. Lunch is just around the corner :) Diane

We live in a state of forced semi-retirement right now. (Layoffs, economy, etc!) and I start the day looong before my husband. I think I might start waking him this way. Brekkie in bed, a little chat to start the day. Sounds uplifting!!

Don't worry Rosaria, it happens to the best of us. Your breakfasts sound very romantic - very inspirational!
