Sick and unbelievable, but not really surprising, considering our country has been run by big oil companies for quite a while, now.

I couldn't get the video to show.

But if the caption is right, it is typical of what to expect of politicians — the victory of rhetoric over common sense.

No wonder our countries are in such trouble.

Logic and reason seem to have flown out the window of the senate. I am still shaking my head in disbelief. How can they possibly justify that obstructionist stand?

The Republican senators, could they be out of touch with their colleagues in the House?
The Tea Party seems to have gained representatives in the senate.

I'm one of those Americans who is neither Republican nor Democrat, but rather for the Party of Common Sense. That this is being blocked by an obviously partisan move is just showing the absense of common sense in that room. Too sad for everyone, not just for America, but also the Republican Party and the men/women who are showing their absense of common sense for all to see. How embarrassing for them.

What is the lesson here indeed. Apparently the plan is to be the party of no, regardless of what is at issue. Very sad.

I think the lesson here is that it's time to give power back to the grownups because clearly they are no longer the ones running the country. Politics has changed from a "What can we all do to work together, reaching across party lines, to fix this country?" to a childish attitude of "How do we best screw over the other side?"

This is ridiculous. And it's tearing this nation apart and will continue to do so until the public, we the voters, finally step up with our voices and tell them that enough is enough.
