I'm lost and found here
among trees, fog,
occasional sun rays,
and mostly rain.
What I have become is
enough for now; a breadth
to get me over the bed posts
of each morning.
You have to drag me out screaming some mornings as
I sit here behind the lacy curtains of this windowed world
listening to the blue jays screaming out at my cat-
"We can't help it!" I shout back
"Go on-go-squawking elsewhere
while I go down to the
vegetable garden and demand respect from the slugs.
Haha!! You demand respect from the slugs and I demand respect from those darned squirrels that make off with my tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteRosaria, you captured the essence of 'rainy coastal Oregon' in all of its gloomy glory. (loved it)
ReplyDeleteYou sound very much like I’ve been feeling for weeks now.
ReplyDeleteRespect from slugs, hm, I wonder . . . .
let me know if that works with the slugs...smiles...enough for now...what more can we expect...and some days we do have to be dragged out...and that is ok as well..
ReplyDeleteSunny days are coming...or at least what passes for a sunny day in Oregon!
ReplyDeleteI still wonder how, even after all these years, I can slow my mind to match my pace.
ReplyDeleteCharming vignette...can picture it exactly :) Slugs around here are those rascally little lizards that try to get in the door...
ReplyDeleteSuch little creatures, needing their opportunity, and yet...
ReplyDeleteWe had an unusual hot week followed by rains; enough heat to jump start all our creatures into summer splendor.
My son in Portland was singing a bit of the rain blues too! We've had a very chilly and rainy Spring so far. Hopefully this week will bring out some leaves and blooms since it's going to be around 70...one day anyway!
ReplyDeleteI loved the respect you demand from the slugs line. Really creative. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from london.
beautiful life Rosaria
ReplyDeleteSee what this dreary weather can drive us to? Poetry!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! You have a tough life indeed — trying to converse with Blue Jays and get respect from slugs. Such burdens!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Tis naught like a dreary dismal day to engender lassitude, and so much the worse if you're feeling down to start with.
ReplyDeleteI am certain the slugs respect you!
