Time adorned you on this ordinary day
a few strands of silver
set off that blue
sweater on this day
at Redfish, when you smiled across the table
at the man who took this picture
who knew you better than your own mother.
Time was
when you never
had all you wanted
when the meal was finished, and it ran off before you felt
accomplished
with what your life became.
In each moment, like this one through time
you never looked any lovelier.
Too bad. You would have loved all you saw
even when your eyes were tearing
and your heart was broken
by life's constant waves of grief.
G'day Rosaria. Just lovely. Take care. Liz...

'Time adorned you...' How beautifully said. Wished I could have appreciation for time's adornments, but nope, I could rather do without them.

Nuts in May
Very moving poetry. Seemed to be both joy and grief in your writing.
ReplyDeleteI understand the waves of grief, and regret, but life is too short, especially at our age to spend time on regret. It's quite a moving piece.
ReplyDeleteMissed this earlier this month and love it.. esp. the last line...be well
