It just takes one!

One person stepping in unknown territory.
Then, another.
A third.
A group of scouts stomping along.
Soon, the path is beaten and becomes recognizable to the rest of the tribe.
Soon, everyone will automatically choose this path.
Tomorrow, we'll all be scampering around on our merry way, not giving even one thought of how this path was once unknown territory.

Got an idea?
To improve your world?
To forge a new direction?
Take the first step forward.
Tell someone.
Who will tell another one.
And the world will soon find  a new path started by one person.

Just a few years ago we used to fish until there were no more fish. Now, we have marine reserves in place, lists of sustainable fish, incentives to support and manage a healthy fishing industry.  So, it should be with all of our consumption.

  1. Yes, a start however small sets a direction. Some has said that a journey of thousand miles starts with a single step. As I read your post, I was reminded of that saying.

  3. makes me think of the margaret mead quote...

A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

  4. The first step: change myself, take the bus wherever feasible, drive slower and more gently, keeping at or below 2500 RPM makes a huge difference,

  9. I've blazed tails, and I've been a follower. Being part of the solution is much better than being a part of the problem.
Interesting, Sonia at Gutsy Living talked recently about the importance of the "first follower." That was interesting, too.

  11. I hope I won't make anyone upset when I write this, but I was not a Michael Jackson fan. However, he did one song I truly loved. I'm starting with the man in the mirror.

  12. Laws are made and changed with events that have happened many times in only one person's life...but those who aren't afraid to come along and be part of the solution, the task needing done, or to cheer others on are also important. I'm cheering you on for having a very thoughtful post! Thanks!

  14. No arguments here, just taking that first step sometimes takes years when it is often too late.

  15. It's true. I feel that Mother Nature is speaking to us (yelling??) loud and clear. We can each take small steps as individuals, and, suddenly, we become a critical mass, capable of significant change. Nice post.

  17. We share a picnic table and a hammock with our neighbors. They share their chickens and their garden with us.

    It's a first step.

  19. Hi Rosaria. You are always very motivational! I've enjoyed the older posts too - watery images, and talk of dreams which become reality!

  28. I've seen so much good change happen from little efforts so I do know it is possible - though, at times, you feel like you are pounding your head against a wall!
