The Seeds of Neglect.

In any corner of the garden there are markers, stumps, vegetation
you planted on purpose, for a desired effect.
The garden will evolve.
These roses will send out new shoots and
native grasses will spread as far as they can.

A gardener has to be vigilant,
 control invasive plants
 weeds
 insects.

Neglect your garden, and you will have nothing but weeds.

Everything  in life suffers from neglect.

  4. beautiful, the pic and the poem. Neglect is the most subversive form of abusive - uncaring, unfeeling - unacknowledged. . .

  5. Jay tells me a weed is just a plant I have not learned to love! Good reminder about nurturing what is important...a plant, a garden, a relationship, a loved one. Neglect just drains the life force from the victim. Good thoughts, Rosaria!

  6. G'day Rosaria. Lovely photo. Weeds are one of life's little chores, but as with a lot of things there has to be a balance. Though to be honest, life for most of us would be easier without them. Take care...

  7. The flowers are really pretty..we don't grow pretty flowers like that here...flowers like that are precious...here, u'll find weeds if u don't tend to it.

  8. Very, very true..I see it every day in the operating room...the neglect that happens to our bodies when we ignore what's good for us, put things in it that are toxic, think someone else will tend and fix it...and pay to get it fixed. I often think of life situations when I'm in my garden trying to weed and help things bloom. That's when I'm grateful for God's help where I fail...either in my garden, or my life.

  9. Oh...but does anyone know what it feels like to be an undesirable plant like...the weeds?

  10. Hi Rosaria .. love the photo - they look like really old fashioned roses with a massive scent?

The seeds of neglect - they find their way in the end .. with or without us .. Hilary

  13. Near Burlington VT there is a farm specializing in "weeds", they even sell seeds to plant weed gardens. A botanist whose name I forgot once wrote that "weeds are plants that we don't know what to do with as yet".
As for neglect the most damaged kids I ever worked with were not physically abused ones, they were the negelcted ones and for youth protection authorities proving negelect is very difficult so many go without adequate support from the community until it's too late.

  14. Neglect is a form of abuse, an indirect form.

  15. Which is why I don't have a garden!

  16. I did not get into gardening till I had my children. The mothering I do with my babies extends to my "green babies". What I put into both ventures, I get out! Thanks for another thoughtful post!

  17. I love that corner. Love the lavender & the tree stump.
However, a little patch of controlled weeds is very good for wild creatures and butterflies.

  19. G'day Rosaria. Thank you for your comment on the rose. I have tried cuttings from it some time ago and they all failed. I think from memory I tried about two dozen and not one worked. I will try again shortly, maybe have better luck this time. Take care.

  21. Sometimes the weeds can be beautiful, too. And, as someone pointed out to me yesterday, the "worm"(insect) can become a glorious butterfly...
But we should always be careful in the way we cultivate our garden.

  22. There are no weeds in God's garden. We torture the soil, make it conform to our ways and then, unless we apply fertilizers and insecticides, the earth is gone. Let the weeds flourish. Control is arbitrary and we have no idea what we are doing. Life is the same. The more control we exercise, the less we have.

  23. Working hard on getting the orto ready for planting soon, it has been overtaken by a grass we know as couch!
