More Oregon beaches on a calm day: Bandon

Bandon is the town north of us, about twenty-three miles up Pacific Coast Highway.  We do this trip whenever possible, to walk on the beach, admire beautiful homes on the bluff, and end up having a fish meal at Tony's Crab Shack whenever we can sit outdoors.

Just north is Bandon Dunes Resort, with these views greeting the lucky golfers.
We don't golf. Yet. We are tempted. Especially on such a glorious day.

This is another typical day after a heavy storm that dropped inches of rain, and deposited driftwood all over the place. The sunshine was enough to coax us outdoors.

It will be weeks before I can return to these beaches.

  4. The Oregon beaches are stunning! The water is freezing! I have a vacation photo of the coast line that hangs proudly on my wall.

  7. Gosh, we'd have to drive hours and hours to get to a beach. You just can't beat the view and the sound of the waves and birds. Lucky you!
    Thanks for sharing!

  9. Oregon has great beaches, and these are good photos. I really like the third and fifth ones. It's hard to beat sand, rocks, and sea!

  10. I'm jealous of the driftwood. I use it and stones polished by the sea along with copper wire and beads to create what I call "earrings for the garden"--although many of them wind up on my wall.
I want to have a picnic with you on that bench and table.
    Love, Chris

  16. I love Bandon and the beaches. We, too, are tempted by golf. We don't play, but we live right across from one - it does look like fun.

  17. it is easy enough to see why this place appeals and decent meal after the walk is simply the cherry on top of a good day.

  23. My rich uncle owns beach front property by the PGA golf course in Bandon. I keep meaning to visit his house. These pictures remind me why! My brother said we will go in the spring, I'm so looking forward to visiting him. You live in paradise, cold water or not.

  25. There was a sense of isolation in those photos. As if everybody vacated the premises and left it all to you. What a lovely gesture! I only have to see the pictures to inhale the atmosphere. Thanks for a wonderul memory.

  26. Beautiful beach scenes. When we lived on Medhia Beach, Morocc-, the Atlantic Ocean was smooth rarely. I surely seen it stormy too, can be frightening.

  27. oh my, that beach is gorgeous and so different looking than the beaches here in the east. I keep saying I want to move to Oregon, and I don't think I'm kidding. (Golf is tempting, but don't let it fool you -it's a strange, time consuming hobby and there are much better things to do in the great outdoors :)

  33. Lovely spot, obviously. I used to caddy for my dad (a professional golfer). The links (sea-side courses) were always very special. Played differently and enjoyed differently.
Give in to your temptation, you'll not regret it.

  34. I do not golf either but seeing the right outdoor areas almost has me considering it in the same way. These photos are perfect you almost feel yourself walking on the beach there.

I'm most touched by Life Behind the Curtains and thank you for the truths you've spoken so eloquently. I'm going right next door to tend my neighbor who spoke to me yesterday on the street about her sad state of affairs. Wish me luck.
