Celebrations.

I want to acknowledge my 100 follower:

http://www/. midlifejobhunter.blogspot.com

100 :That's more than I ever anticipated. How did it happen? What makes people jump in and follow you?
Now, you'd think I'm the only one out there surprised. I bet those of you with two-three-eight hundred followers are just smiling.

To my followers: thank you for adding your name and face to this blog. I hear from you now and then, sometimes never. I try to follow you also. We meet in places frequented by mutual friends. We begin to exchange comments, leave tokens for each other, begin to recognize patterns. Soon, we could finish each other's sentences.

Thank you for reading my thoughts, leaving me thoughts, sharing your lives with me. I wish you success in what you are pursuing at the moment.

We are all pilgrims here, making our way through brambles and clumps and tall grass that could hide dangers and disappointments. Some of us will retreat, too old, too tired to go forward. Some of us will scratch our way through. We will encourage others and show by our example that the road can be forged by anyone. It takes courage to share. It takes stamina and grit to continue doing something if nobody else cares about it.

So, for caring, for following, for leaving comments, these awards are yours to take, one and all.

  1. I came out of curiosity because Man of Roma had spoken about your blog. I continued out of a desire to see where you were going and I stay because I find the response to your blog absolutely fascinating.
At the beginning I thougth this was a mutual admiration society, now I see it as much more: a virtual community of friends sharing and contributing to the general wellbeing of all through their common experiences as well as what defines them individually.
Keep it up, I'll be back and you are always welcome to my blog.

  4. Very, very nicely said, Rosaria. You bring a cheerful insight to many in the blogosphere.

If there were more hours in the day, it would be fun to put together a chart to figure out how followers make their way to us. Kind of like the Six Degrees of Separation theory.

Looking forward to hearing more of your life.

  5. Congratulations on 100 followers.

Because of problems with Internet Explorer after Blogger's last upgrade I had to remove my Follow gadget, which amuses me--it is Bloggers own gadget.

I was getting "Operation Aborted" on my own blog and still get it with others who have that gadget. You can hit "Back" arrow one or two times, and you can read the blog, but what a pain. And some persons are having trouble commenting on my blog.

  6. Hi Rosaria, many congratulations on your 100th follower - I will check her out. I note some other bloggers are quite close to the ton - Lola on 99, for one plus some others. As for me I am quite pleased with my 41 even though one of them is trying to sell me wallpaper and one is a dating agency, making unwanted and unsolicited comments on my blog (I hear a post forming between my ears).
Imagining a following of 100 is quite a milestone for a new boy like me to get to grips with.
Your words of encouragement on your post are fantastic and an inspiration to the likes of me - your advice, wonderful and I thank you.
I now have fixed my blog to show activity over a long distance so hopefully I can catch you on my radar better.
Thank you very much for the awards. I will sellotape them to my sidebar and wear them with pride from a loyal and true friend - with affection ~ Eddie x

By the way, your comment on my blog today was very realistic and very poetic. It made me smile. Thank you.

You're so right that we're stumbling along, in our own way and to our own ends, and it's fantastic that others want to read our travels.

  19. Dear Rosaria,

I am smiling for you, happy 100th. I liked how you put it, being a pilgrim, a pioneer. I love to learn about others and get a better understanding of people and our world. I think most people feel the same way.

  27. How thoughtful and beautiful of you to post this, dear Rosaria. Congratulations!
I love what you say about us being pilgrims, and as far as forging the pattern to tread along, that's exactly what you did for me.

I am honored to be in that 100.
    Ciao
    Lola

  28. Congratulations on having 100 followers.

What you write is worthy of attention. That's why people follow you.

But how are you going to keep track of all of us?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I so agree with Beth up there - I, too, would absolutely love to share a long leisurely meal with you and to learn more from you than I already do from following your thought-provoking, erudite and friendly blog and the lovely images you post. Your comments on my blog are treasured. Thank you very much, lakeviewer, it is an honour to 'know you'.

  30. Rosaria, I agree with Paul, there is something fascinating about your blog and the circle you have gathered around it. Congratulations. Today I will add you to my list of recommended blogs.

You provide a warm sense of community, of going together 'scratching our way through'. And one feels you are idealistic and sage, and that you have learned it the hard way. All this is not so common nowadays. There is a lot of void.

I think the support from readers is well deserved, and much more are about to show up, I'm sure.

    Ciao!

  31. What a grand way to start the month!

You could start a small town with that many!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi folks, thanks for visiting and leaving such kind words. One hundred folks may live in a town, but only a few visit regularly. Rob asked how I can keep up with 100.
It's easy for me because I used to run a school bigger than my present town. After the first few months people's patterns begin to establish: maladies, concerns, patterns of posting.

You tend to visit more often with people who make you feel at home; you tend to wish you knew more about some others. Mostly, you return the visit, appreciate the hospitality.

That's a community out there, connecting on many levels.

I especially thank Costo, Man of Roma, Rob-bear,Eddie, Brian, for hanging out with an old woman. Frankly, it goes to show that women and men can develop real friendships. Or. it goes to show that these men have grown up, and we women have stopped playing the same adolescent games.

All continents are represented here, all time zones, all races and creeds as well. If we can talk to each other, there is hope for the rest of the world in conflict.

    Ciao. Au revoir. Pace Nostrum.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey Rosaria, you're not an old woman!!!

Your soul is young and strong, one can feel it!

And, if you're 65, I am 61, and Paul, he will tell ya. Of course a man can be friends with a woman! We adore the other side of our species! You are the salt of earth! You are marvellous!

And we're not all like our prime minister who, though being 72-3, is (allegedly) after teenagers!

    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well Rosaria if you are an old woman at 65, what am I at 78? A fossil perhaps. Come on young one snap out of the old age syndrome; it's between your two ears and nowhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rosaria, you are very kind calling me a young man, or implying it. Actually I am 65 in October. I must have done relly good sell job.
I in no way think of you as, how did you say it? "for hanging out with an old woman".
Rubbish!! neither you or I are old!! we are young, or we feel young - so there everyone!!
You are a lovely lady and I respect your writing ability, your openness, your hospitality, your encouragement to others and your friendship. My only regret is, due to insufficient time availability, I am not able to visit your super blog and posts as often as I would like. Your Brit buddy, Eddie x

  36. 8 or 100 - what's in a number? Bless em all, I say. Bless em all!

You are right in saying it takes effort to continue blogging - for now I am all out of it - but one day I shall be back with a whole lot more random stuff - so keep me on your list honey - and blog on!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Congratulations on the well deserved awards and for your 100th follower, as well! :^)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well said! Not a surprise, though. You always have wonderful insights into our world both out there and in this blogosphere.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great job - having friends is like having blooms in the garden and cyber friends are flowers you can take with you wherever you go :)

  40. Thanks for your kind remarks, Rosaria. Thoughtful as always.

I know you’re 65 (the age of “certifiable decrepitude” is what a friend calls it). But you are not OLD. As potsoc said, this age stuff is between your ears. You’re interested in everything around you, as well as charming and interesting to know. And your writing is splendid. You’re getting to know us. As you said, “After the first few months people's patterns begin to establish: maladies, concerns, patterns of posting.”

In short, instead of saying you’re old, I would say you are a delightful and “venerable” member of our society.

  41. Congratulations, and your 100 followers are well deserved. You have a lovely blog and much to say.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Congratulations on reaching three figures. What a great achievement - and richly deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  43. well done on all the awards! they are all well deserved.

I know what you mean about the followers, I've only got 62 so far but I'm amazed that there are 62 people in the world willing to read my ramblings. I love them all for that! And comments are so important, because after all blogging is mostly about interaction.

Saying that, life gets in the way sometimes and I missed your last post. Beautiful photos, it's absolutely stunning where you live. I hope you have a nice summer so that you can take more pictures like that.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Congrats on your following. It is truly deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 100 Followers! Wow, that's just so great. I still have a long way to go to reach that achievement in Blogland. :)

But honestly, I'm not wondering why so many people love to read your blogs and share a piece of what they know. Your posts are always insightful and interesting.

I'm sorry for not being able to comment these past few days. Blogging has taken the back seat recently but I'm hoping things will fall into place soon.

    Thanks Rosaria! :)
